Hi,

my 2nd gen Iveco is a converted horsebox. The heater blower control snapped off shortly after we bought the vehicle but we could still control the switch using a pair of pliers on the plastic part on which the switch was originally fixed. After a while it was too damaged to grip so we just put up with the blower being on full all the time. Today I managed to remove various parts of the central panel and access the rear of the blower control.....and pull it off its housing. The part that revolves could then be removed and I was able to make a custom extension to it so it could be turned from the front of the dash. Feeling pleased with myself I put everything back together only to find that regardless what position I turn the switch to the fan is still on its fast setting. I notice that the central heater lever says "off" when in its middle position on the slider............that has not effect at all. I can see that the rotary part moves across 4 different contact segments on the part that plugs in to the back, but there is also another contact that slides on a ring of brass inside the casing.............. I assume this is the earth part but there is nothing I can see that connects this ring to earth.........is this the problem? Anyone any ideas what is wrong here please?

It is possibly the resistor which is in the side of the blower unit under the bonet, a very expensive part from iveco or Vexi. I am looking to find a solution using a different resistor, but will not be quick. as soon as I know if we can wire in a different one I will post. Don't expect anything soon!
