Driving along a few weeks ago when the steering got heavy, warning lights came on and the bus just died.

It would spin over freely but wouldn't start, (it had started 1st time just 15mins earlier.)

Anyway, had to get it recovered to a garage who have investigated the problem and have concluded that the pump is ..........ed.

I therefore need a replacement pump ASAP as they can't have the thing standing around there for ever.

I don't know if it's the original engine or not but the number on the pump is 0460 424 124

Had a look on Ebay but none on there. Anyone here that can help me out? If I can't get one it could mean the bus is scrap as a new one, even if available wouldn't be economically viable.

I'd have to get someone top simply take the thing away and I'd end up taking a total loss on it.

Cheers, LG.

I am no expert and therefore please accept this is just an opinion. Hopefully Basil or someone elso will reply to you. I would check the stop solonoid on the pump, when this is faulty it can cut the fuel. ( it cuts the fuel when you stop the engine with the key) Also are you getting fuel to the pump? Can you get the van taken to your home so you can investigate further in your own time? Fuel pumps can be reconditioned by a deisel specialist. These jobs are not cheap but how much is the van worth to you?

Hi Graham and thanks for the reply.

The bus was recovered, (at some expense,) to a garage that does advertise itself as a "diesel specialist" so I would hope that they have investigated all of the obvious causes of the sudden failure. There isn't much I could do myself and it's too big to be towed around.

If it is the pump, and I fail to find one, my only option will be a "spares or repair" auction and hope that someone with the means to move it considers it worth something.

This on top of a cycling holiday that ended after my bike and everything on it got nicked in Germany. I was hoping to get a grand back from the bus to off set some of that loss, (the bike was worth £1600 alone.)

Cheers, LG.

Sorry to hear your troubles.

What you need is a diesel injection specialist one that rebuilds pumps and injectors. Most garages are not specialist in this as it is a skill in itself and requires specialist tools. As far as the bike theft goes are you covered on you contents insurance for your house? Unfortunately a non runner will be worth scrap value. If you can move it out of their way it would buy you some time to get other opinions.

Hi Graeme. If I can't get a pump I may be able to see if there are are specialists in the area that could look at it. The garage aren't on my back about it just yet. They have done work for me in the past and I've known one of the main guys for years.

Nah, the bike wasn't covered. Rode it all the way from Lithuania, across Poland and 2 days into Germany it got lifted from out side a garage. Probably lifted straight into the back of a car or van, as there was no lock left behind.

Roll on 2017 as I'm sick of 2016!

LG.

Hi Gav and thanks for the reply. Providing it's the right one I'm picking a pump up tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Don't blame you for wanting to sell the engine complete. I'd want to do the same.

Let's hope this pump fits and that it gets the old bus up and running again.

Cheers, LG.
