throttle cable

I have a 2.8 ltr turbo engine, right hand drive and a throttle cable that connects directly to the accelerator pedal under the the cab.
PIC number 14911111 seemed right for the cab.
it gives part number 93810251 L = 1080mm for the cable, but this is far too short. The connections are exactly right, but not the length.
Can anyone give me the correct part number?
Thanks

Hi mark,

Have you tried zepplin or vexi?
Usually find zepplin very helpful in identifying parts, they usually send me diagrams via email to help source.....

My vehicle is a mixture of parts. The registration is for a high roof van with 2.5l engine. I've actually got a crewcab chassis cab with 2.8ltr engine. The cab, the rear frame, the engine and the body are all replacements (and the clutch came from a 6.5t version !) So it's a nightmare to look up. I've got a catalogue the same or similar to the ones they use. It's usually good enough, but this time it really looks wrong in the catalogue.
I've now got a short cable either for a LHD cab or for the old style RHD with mechanical linkage. I can look up longer cables, but the prices vary a lot and its hard to be sure if the fittings will match.

Hi Mark

I might have a cable for you, just sold my Iveco turbo daily camper not long ago, see previous posts it was 2.8TD P reg.
I bought the cable to replace when I got the injection pump repaired but forgot to give it to the garage so never got replaced.

The length is 1940mm long and is for a RHD , brand new
See photo,s sorry for image.

Also got locking petrol cap ( hard to get now)
Engine mount.

You can have throttle cable for £10 + postage.

I will look out for your reply

regards
Jeff

Dear Jeff,
Thanks for the offer, but its not the right cable. Mine is a ball and socket joint at both ends. The cable has a cylinder of metal with a socket in it.
What's the part number of yours? at least then I can rule it out.

I've now fixed padlocks to both fuel caps. Otherwise a locking cap is money well spent - just think how much a tank of fuel is worth.
Cheers
Mark

Interesting. It has the right end design but is far too short - I need about 2m

remember that they dont connect directly to the pedal but instead to that strange crossover linkage on the other side of the chassis member.

No, mine connects direct to the pedal under my feet. I don't have the funny cross over mechanism. I think it is a change on later models. But that is shown clearly in the parts catalogue where I looked up the number.

I think I have a good system, although a bit prone to dirt and ice underneath (I've added an extra rubber bellows.)

At the moment I am fine, but I wanted to carry a spare cable with me, as it is light and small and a risky item that would stop me driving.

My spare cable is about 2m, I have not taken it out of the packet. It has the two ball fittings one at each end. part number 93810252

Graeme

Remkaflex RARC 01688 a company in the Netherlands is a crossreference, if you need me to call them for you I will.

Graeme and Mark,

Thanks for your inputs on this Throttle Cable Post.
My new Purchase is quite an uncontrollable missile thanks to the heavily corroded Throttle Cable jammimg the throttle open.
I have sent a parts request to RemKaflex to check on the price and availability of the RHD Cable setup.

Kind Regards,

Do you have a long cable that starts under the cab floor below the pedal? If do it is vulnerable to dirt and even ice. Give it a clean first. Cables sticking open could be due to them being frayed - which is serious. Try vexi online for parts first. It's so easy to get a price that matches trade prices.

Yes Mark that's the cable type.
VEXI have it listed using the part number mentioned previously in this thread.
Mine for 130 pounds....
It looks like the rod at ball joint end under pedal assembly is splintering as it rusts and jamming cable movement in its sleeve.
So I will wait to see what Remkaflex have to offer and keep you posted.

Do you now how to take it apart? The rod, that the ball joint goes into, has a sleeve which can be slid off (maybe with help from a screwdriver). Then you can clean it up and grease it.
