Hi all, So I finally got around to attempting to change the front discs - they're down to 13mm and should be changed at 19mm!!! I was expecting a bit of a fight but can't get them off. Looks like there's an interference fit on the inside between disc and hub. Tried some WD and penetrating fluid but nothing, have been beating them with a big hammer. I read on here (for a newer model but may still apply) that the hubs need to be pressed out the disc and therefore I'm guessing the whole hub then needs to come off also? Can anyone enlighten me a little further? Many thanks! Just found a video that may be of help... Using two nuts and bolts to push against the inner edge of the disc from the calliper mounts. Never seen it done before or even heard about it but looks like it's worth a shot! I'll report back soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ep7NdZMn1mk Edited by JackVan, Feb 14 2017, 02:57 PM.

Ok, so for anyone wandering if the method in the video above works... well yes and no! I tightened the screws into the face of the disc and then gave it a few taps of a hammer and smashed the braking face off, this made what had to be done next easier. Using a 9" angle grinder and cold chisel, I separated the hub part of the disc and it came off with a few knocks. Doing the other side tomorrow, but hopefully this way it won't take me so long! |
