Vibration after changing transfercase mounting

I have just changed my transfercase mounting and now I get a terrible vibration (low) right through the cab but only at tickover. Seems a bit strange as the transfercase mount was shot, any ideas welcome. Could the engine mounts be shot and this has shown it up? I can't see anything touching.

I have loosened and tighted everything as took off the bracket that fixes to the chassis as well to paint it. Anyway it has improved but it is still bad. I think it must be the engine mountings. It is difficult to see but the one I can see looks perished. It looks like another difficult job.

Has anyone changed them and got any tips?

Graeme

Graham I just changed the transfer case mount on mine too and the vibration is really bad. The steering wheel vibrates like mad at idle (which I achieve by putting my foot under the throttle and pulling back :-/). It was really bad when I fist did it but has since improved, it's considerably better than when I first changed it, but still much worse than it was using my broken/split mount. I've kind of resided to the fact that this is how much my vehicle should vibrate, though I may be wrong. I am now wearing earplugs when I drive!!!

How strange.....I have had a second opinion from ivecojoe who looked at my engine mounts and said they are fine. I just drove over 400 miles at the weekend and it has improved a bit but as you say it is much worse than with the old mount that was split! I have made my own gearbox mount and the thought now is that I used too hard PU I used shore hardness 70. The next thing I am going to try is to adapt some Landrover engine mounts for the gearbox. If it works it will be a good fix for all of us as the mounts are cheap. I am not sure when I will get it done as I am very busy in the next few weeks. When I do I will post results and may be able to supply adaptor brackets.

I'm interested in anything that helps!!! :-)

I haven't actually had any passengers in the van since I got it but I'm thinking of investing in a couple of pairs of these when I do!!!
