Ok, recently my Iveco Daily MK2 with a 2.5 turbo diesel (model 35.10) developed a strange thing. When on idle it randomly drops the RPM but never enough to actually stall the car, it vibrates badly and then the RPM goes up again to normal. The car only has 57.000 km on the odo despite being 23 years old (used to be a firefighting truck, hence the low figure on the odo). What can it be? I read that a vacuum leak can cause this but also a dozen other things. I tend to notice it happens more often when the engine is cold and goes away when the engine is warm. Anybody an idea? |

First thing that comes to mind would be the cold idle control. Believe it is a wax bulb of some kind that increase revs when the bulb is cold. I would check that first.... |

It is eventually fixed, turned out that one of the fuel lines that goes from the dieselfilter to the pump had become loose from vibration and sucked false air. A little twist with a 17 wrench solved the problem and my Chubby Buddy (as I call her) runs smooth once again. |
