Leaking Turbo to Downpipe joint

Hello all,

The joint between the turbo and downpipe seems to be leaking, the design is a terrible one! Has anyone got any suggestions on how to make it seal properly? Is it possible the engine mounts are worn and allowing too much movement? I've tried taking off and there isn't much to it, I've attempted to seal them before with Gun gum which just goes brittle and falls off from vibrations.

It's the same style in the classic minis, I remember going round in circles until I replaced the lot with a complete sports exhaust system which half solved the problem (I found that the subframe wasn't quite attached to the car and had A LOT of movement in it).

Thanks for any help!

Have you tried fitting a gasket?

The flexible join on the downpipe should allow for any movement
