Hi, Just wandering if it's worth going for a second hand fusebox/CUI since it could be about to fail in the same as mine (water damaged). New ones are £120, found one for £40 - is it worth the gamble? Luckily parked up in a good spot where I don't need to move, as the van won't start now because it's so bad. Explains the mountains of issues though! |

Hi, If you can inspect it for corrosion before you get it - why not. I have read of issues with new ones, too. More important to make sure that no more water enters, and if it does that it does not go into the CUI. People just cover it with plastic to achieve this. Regards Raphael |

I found water runs down wires from the windscreen area and into the gearbox. That would be very hard to stop with a cover. The water damage that I had was in the relays rather than the main part of the fuse box. Note that the relays have a permanent live connection so if the water triggers them they can turn on lights or windscreen wipers without any key in the ignition ! |

Can't inspect it before I buy, there aren't many scrappys near me. It'll be an eBay thing. Chances are it'll work better than the one I have at the minute which doesnt turn a dash light on!! Annoying if the water comes in from the wires, although don't most of them come from the passenger side to the vehicle? On a rhd one anyway! |

I have a fuse box from my R reg 4x4. I have scrapped the cab due to rust and am in the process of fitting a gen 3 cab so all the parts from the old cab are for sale. The fuse box is in good condition and everything was working. You could inspect before purchase! I live in west Yorkshire 20 minutes from J35a of the M1, postcode HD9. Richard |

yes most wires come from the passenger side. However wires related to interior lights, and perhaps speakers, for example, go up the door pillar under the trim. Any water leaking on that side of the windscreen will drip down those wires. Which leads to the fusebox. |
