Hi, A while ago in heavy rain, the wipers came on despite the control arm not being in the on position. On inspection, there was water dripping down the back of the fuse box. I pulled the fuses and relays, disconnected the battery, and let it dry over night. The next morning as soon as I reconnected the battery, the heater came on despite no key in the ignition, and the headlights turned on. After spotting burnt out connectors on the laminates in the fuse panel, I sent away the box to be repaired (in New Zealand and no scrap vehicles so it would seem). Anyway, today I put the repaired box back into the van and the same symptoms happen ie heater and lights on when there is no key in the ignition. I have disconnected the power supply to the heater at the heater box under the bonnet which turned the lights off, but there is power still at the back of the heater control. I saw in a previous topic that water in a relay can cause anomalies like the lights and wipers to engage without the key, but does the heater have a relay? It does seem to be the primary fault? Is there anything obvious I am missing I diagnosing or repairing? Does anyone know of a solution? Cheers, Dave |

The subject has been covered a few times. Try using the search facility. Problem usually stems from leaking windscreen. Relays can short circuit or stick in the on/off position. Replace or repair. Can be removed from board and tested with a multimeter. Graeme |
