|Reset of blink codes|

I'm trying to get my 65C15 running right after an engine change.
I've read the blink codes, and there are 23 stored in the memory, so I really need to clear all of those, and see what new ones are generated.
In the workshop manual it tells me to read the codes with the key turned off - but on mine - the key needs to be on.
This isn't a biggie, but it also means the reset sequence listed in the manual doesn't work either
To delete the list of errors from the control unit memory,
follow this procedure:
— with the key turned off, press the diagnosis button;
— keeping the button pressed, turn the key on;
— keep the button pressed for 5 seconds;
— let go of the button;
— turn the key off.
Does anyone have any other ways of clearing the codes/resetting the ECU
