Hi all. Have had my van about a year and have been converting it into an mx motorhome. Everything has been fine with it until the other day when i van coming into a 30mph zone and took my foot off the pedal and the engine cut out and i noticed the red injector light was flashing. Thinking i had just stalled it some how i started it back up and thought nothing of it and carried on as normal. Then at the weekend i drove it about 10 miles, oarked up for bout 20mins then got back in it, turned the key and it kept turning over then eventually started up but the red injector light was flashing and it had no power. I managed to drive home, left it for an hour then tried it again and it was fine. Now every now and again it cuts out while driving, i free roll, put the clutch in, turn the key and it fires back up, sometimes the lights flashing and it has now power, then other times its totally fine and drives perfectlly
Have read a few posts on here already about this problem but does anyone know what the solution is???

If you look at the fix it fast post at the top of the page, there are some details on how to check if the low pressure pump is the likely cause.

Hi mate ....

I had exactly the same problem with my2005 2.3 hpi Iveco 35 s12, this went on for the best part of the month, took it to Iveco to put on the diagnostic machine, came up ... numerous faults, crank sensor, injector sensor plus plus plus! Iveco investigated further, turned out to be .. timing belt jumped a tooth, eventually causing timing belt tensioner to collapse, very expensive repair bill and headache. Moral of the story ... have timing belt and tensioners checked ... URGENTLY!! ....
Hope this helps!!!

This happened to me.

The tensioner at the rear of the head failed, the chain jumped a few teeth and sent cams out of sync with each other. Result: bent valves, snapped followers, damaged cam and dodgy tensioner.

All had to be replaced with very expensive repair bill :'(

Guys in garage (Iveco dealers) told me they'd never seen it before and that I couldn't have known it would happen or have stopped it happening. Just bad luck.

I felt very hard done by as the van had only done 53,000mls at the time and had been regularly serviced. Timing belt at the front was OK and wasn't due for change (although it did get changed during repairs). I agree of course, get them done earlier rather than too late.

Sorry, I think we've strayed off topic here

I had the same thing on my 2002 2.8 van, driving fine then the engine cuts out for no real reason. I re-started it and drove off ok. The red injector lamp flashed when this happened too. It usually happened when I came off a slow roundabout. I also had problems starting it, especially when cold. I took it to the garage and they said one of the injectors was leaking. I think they said it was an internal leak and the fuel want back to the tank via the return line. I had the injector replaced and have not had a problem since. It must have been 18 months now!

Hi,
Mine used to go for miles without a problem then the red light issue would resurface, changed the low pressure pump, the fuel regulator, to no avail, then eventually the van stopped with the injector light flashing and wouldn't start at all ended up biting the bullet and called main dealer out, result- high pressure pump knackered, £1200 and 6 months later van still running like new, however, iveco did say that this was a rare occurance, take the fuel pipe off the back of the rail, and check that you have fuel getting to the rail, mine didn't, that's why I resorted to the main dealer, who said I had no pressure at the rail, I hope you get it sorted and good luck
