Newbie here, got a 56 plate 2.3 35c12 van bought from an auction. black smoke whilst accelerating/pulling away. has been to Iveco and had throttle actuator valve, egr valve, egr/brake vacum solenoid fitted also had injector seals checked and replaced. also head leak off test carried out. and it's still smoking. what else could be causing this. no fault codes stored in memory or pending. |

My 06 plate is the same,it has 116k on the engine, new cam belt,&full iveco servis, new cam brearings (as others wore out?) I asked at the dealer and they told me just to run it It can be quite fickle at times, blurting large plumes of thick black smoke on take off,or changing gear on motorway, then not doing it for ages! I love the style of the machine, but when im driving it the van makes me feel as if it wants to break down, but upto yet only the cam bearings have gone in 19k miles. I keep my fingers crossed, and take my eyes off the warning lights cumming up on the dash, and try to enjoy. when it stops, make sure you have loads of money spare lol,As these vans aint cheap to fix. My 2007 35S12 is exactly the same.... Can pull away and there is nothing, no problem at all - then when I hit third gear great big plumes of black smoke Then the next time there might be nothing.... Really strange.I've replaced: Turbocharger, injector No.2, timing belt, air mass sensor, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, EGR valve, clutch and had the engine completely re-manufactured....but still black smoke. No faults on a diagnostic test. I've got it booked in again on Wednesday this week for another leak off test. Really frustrating

Has anyone tried running a few tanks of branded/premium fuel through their van (as opposed to the supermarket fuels) to see if they get any improvement? I know my old diesel car used to smoke a lot more using supermarket fuel. |

Yea,i use shell premium,no improvement if i use texaco either. but it may be down to an injector problem as last week the dreaded edc and eobd lights came on, so my vans booked in at main dealers in the morning to find out why. |

Will you let us know what they say please R4UND? I'm starting to lose the will to live with mine and am seriously considering getting rid and have started looking at the VW Crafter....but I love the look of the Daily and if there is a way to eliminate the black smoke I would gladly keep it. Unfortunately I live on an island off Scotland and we don't have an Iveco main dealer. One mechanic has suggested the DPF might be blocked.... |

Yea i`ll let you know no problems The other week i was going to get a 56 plate sprinter, but the fact that the trader wanted 5k + vat and my daily! changed my mind, i just couldnt part with all that cash to get a van the same year and same miles as the van i already own Thats why the daily is the best option for me (i keep telling myself,as i smoke out the cars behind me,lol) Edited by r4und, Oct 10 2011, 07:09 PM.

Exactly the same as me mate I think the Daily is one of the best looking vans out there, if I could only get over the smoke problem (oh, and the side door issue!) I would be happy as Larry And the fact that so many lease companies are selling them on at cheap prices kind of limits what you can sell them for I'm 'very' interested to hear what they tell you tomorrow

How much mr iveco dealer?? £470 ?? do you take dental gold ?Well,no smoke on way home from dealer,(ive just got back late from work,it was dark,no noticable plumes as of yet). The "kind man at dealership" promised me he would sort out my edc eobd lights on dash and smoking plumes fireing out my exhaust, left my van, then in the afternoon they called to tell me there was a fault with the tva valve £178.22 and the air meter £50.25,some new wiring £13.83 plus a couple of £2 items i.e. clip, intake elbow. apparently the tva valve (down on invoice as valve housing) is a common fault with this model, the mechanic told me as he handed me the keys and took next months mortgage, from me lol. ten minuets down the motorway,im talking to my friend (who has same van, same year) via handsfree, and the bloody edc comes back on,and off (3 times altoghether on the way home)."Dont worry about it mate" my friend replies,"the electrics are made from licorice, ive driven 50k in mine, and the lights on all the time" ill let you know if the light stays on over the weekend, and if it does, ill be letting the "kind man at the dealership" know too! |
