hi, i have a problem with my iveco daily w reg mwb 2.5, it crunches when you go into second gear after taking off in 1st. if you put it into 2nd gear when stopped there is no crunch and you can take off fine. i was going to check the gear linkages.

is there a diagram on which i could work from for the gear linkages?, thanks

Hello there

It could be a worn or misaligned linkage as you suggest, but a gearbox crunching (especially into second) is often down to a worn synchromesh inside. The gearbox in the Daily is a big commercial design and tends to be a bit heavy and obstructive to change - especially when it's cold - and this can lead to rough handling by operators over the years.

Does it still crunch if you try to change gear really slowly..? If this seems to cure the problem then it's almost certainly a worn 2nd gear synchro - which would be quite costly to repair, but then, you could just 'drive around' the problem for years in all possibility ;)

Good luck B)
