My alternator voltage drops whilst driving, after an hour or so the voltage creeps down to around 13.4 volts which means my split charge system cuts out, when the van is first started its around 14v. I've heard I can try replacing the voltage regulator/electrical gubbins on the back of the alternator, apparently its just two screws and costs £10-12? My van is a 54reg with the later 2.3 engine, my van is bog standard so I guess it'll have the smaller 120a alternator. thanks

Thanks Bazil...just in time as well as today the voltage had dropped further to 13.16 volts, 13.3 when I turned off the headlights. Last seven digits are D263497. It would be great if you can tell me what size alternator I have, I assume its the standard 120a. |

Thanks Bazil...confused now though! If I stick my registration into Vexi, it gives me the optional 140a alternator as the replacement at £323.03. Think I need to email them! Edited by Spooky_b329, Aug 21 2011, 10:47 AM.

Hi, For the alternator, you should inquire at vexi.co. Try to see (with a mirror) if your alternator has a label with part no. The voltage regulator and the diode bridge are in the event that you repair the alternator . Although it is not profitable. |

P.S. At Daily after 2006 ( 2.3 & 3 L engine), the alternator pulley has a kind of clutch, are cases where the pulley was faulty (slipping). It may be possible to be mounted even on the third generation of Daily, that kind of pulley, I do not remember. |

Just taken a snap, part number 504009977. As you say, not economical to repair at the prices for the voltage regulator. Dismayed at the difference between the standard and 140a alternator, really would like the uprated version as my alternator charges 280ahr of batteries. Found a 150a on ebay which should fit, seller has an excellent record so have stumped up £165 for it. ![]() 35s12 alternator by Ollie and Sally, on Flickr Thanks for all the help Bazil Edited by Spooky_b329, Aug 23 2011, 05:39 PM.
