3rd Gen Gearbox Bearing Failure ?

My friends Iveco Daily that we use as a race transporter for our motorbike racing has developed a bad noise from the gearbox mainly in 5th and 3rd.

We have been told it's the rear gearbox bearings.

I build a lot of race engines so I'm pretty competant in that respect, however Iveco gearbox's are an unknown to me.

I've downloaded the manual.

My question is can I remove the rear gearbox cover without disturbing the rest of the gearbox in the main casing ? The manual only describes the full stripdown in one sequence.

This evening is Monday and I was hoping to get it stripped and bearings bought/ordered tomorrow so we have a slim hope of getting the gearbox fitted by Thursday night ready for our next race meeting this weekend................

Any help would be greatly appreciated :'(

Answered my own question, no

There's a locking plate to turn that can only be accessed by removing the whole casing :(
