PING!; The Sound My Handbrake Cable Made

Yeah, not happy with that one today. Parked up, pulled up the handbrake and.... PING! One snapped cable! :blink:

The main one from the cab is fine but then it splits to 2 cables. The drivers side one snapped. And it was rusty and rotten and bloated inside the outer cable. Managed to get a new one though and fitted it this afternoon. In fact, I got a pair. I figured that the other one might not be too far behind.

The thing I noticed is, where it is clamped by the hanging bracket in the middle, the cables seemed kinked (like that from the factory). I've twisted the brackets slightly and got the new ones flowing nicely.
Also, the rubber ends of the outer cables were split and able to let in dirt.

Might be worth looking at your own to see the condition of these. :unsure:
