I have a optare alero, minibus converted into a party bus, 2003 model, manual, i have been told that the chassis is optare but engine parts and gearbox etc is IVeco. I find it little difficult to get engine parts as I dont know what make and model of ~Iveco engine it is?
Its a 2.8cc Diesel manual engine, Does anybody know which Iveco model engine is in my optare?

For all Optare Alero Owners...
The Iveco engine type is stamped on the Vin plate which is located to the rear of the drivers seat base... however I'm pretty sure it is the same for all Alero's which is type: 8140 - 43s ...
There is a range of Iveco daily's which use this engine type which I believe to be the 125BHP verison (2800cc)...
The Iveco workshop manual suggests that all of the following Iveco Dailys which use this engine type... (I've not checked if it is the same gearbox and clutch for all of these however this can also be easily cross referenced in the 3rd gen Iveco Technical manual, I got my copy on ebay in cd rom format for a few quid, well worth the investment!... I've not looked for the one on the downloads section of this site, it may be the same one :
Iveco Dailys using type 8140 - 43s engine:
35 S 13
35 C 13
40 C 13
45 C 13
50 C 14
A35 S 13
A40 C 13
A50 C 13
I hope this is of some help to Optare Alero owners, this info has saved me a small fortune compared to paying Optare main dealer prices ... its now cheap as chips for Iveco Daily Engine Parts...
***P.S... If any one has a spare wheel for an Alero with or without tyre please get in touch, cash waiting, email: email@example.com
