Hi Ned Engine if standard is either a 2.5 or 2.8 , it should be a chain driven engine not a rubber band engine. Horsepower will be 100 but they are not quick vehicles, they max at at around 65 mph when new, expect to cruise at 55 - 3000 Revs Weight will either be 3.5 tonne or 4.05 tonne , if the heavier weight then it can be downplated quite easily. Knnown issues - CV boots on front go easily, rust on cab (drop a new cab on , folks have used cabs from later models, they fit with a bit of work). Make sure all the 4x4 bits are there (CV joints at front etc as people remove them if they fail - they are expensive to replace, 800 euro per side) Engine will probabily need new chain, guides etc 8140.27 is the code I think for the 2.5. Mid 20's for mpg It should have a rear diff lock and maybe a front diff lock (big red button on the dash), beware of the front diff lock as that could cost you 2 CV joints Rear brakes can also be expensive On the upside we have found alot of alternative parts and suppliers to reduce the costs There is an email group dedicated to this fine truck, membership seems to be split between tree and woodland workers and overlanders http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ivecodaily4x4/ Oh drop me a mail if you decide not to buy it , I might be interested What are you intending to do with the vehicle ? cheers bud for the info, really appreciate it. coupla q's.. i had a lada niva, it had a timing chain, never failed, just adjust it every now and then, funny these should be problematic... is the front axle solid or independent? did anyone ever come up with a wheel solution, split rims are not where its at in my head, dangerous, and tubes are a pain in the head. seems like an axle swap might be a good idea, but with what 80kmph.... aaaaagghhhhhhhhhh.......... lol. thats a fair chunk to deal with. ive been reading about sticking 9 R16 tyres on there to up the speed, they look odd with them on though eh.. i have a pzj 77 cruiser at the mo, and i like it its nice. but, its not big enough, and, tbh, its getting mid 20's as well. so im thinking, bigger vehicle, bigger living space, same mpg... passing out no-one, ever lol nice craft though, it has to be said Edited by Ned, Aug 8 2012, 11:34 PM.

I know people who've never had a timing chain issue and some that have - it is a bit weird really. It can often be to do with the tensioner which relies on oil pressure so folks fit the manual adjust military type The split rims are fine, really quick tube or tyre change with a bit of practice. They are not dangerous , just learn how to do it right. We can get wheels built but they are expensive - around 250 euro a wheel - maybe more than the truck ! . You can put sold Iveco wheels on the front but not on the back as the brake drum is too big You can put 900x16 on them, requires a bit of hacking of the cab - photos of it in the yahoo groups photo section, also they are a pain to get and expensive - I run 8.25/16 as a compromise as do several others I think I overtook something once, probabily a milkfloat, the speed is fine for overlanding but not quick trips More power can be got by intercooling the engine - I'm in the process of doing this using the bits from a 59-12 truck. The cab is a bit weird on that, it looks like an extra depth cab but without any windows See you on the yahoo group as I note you've posted there Rich |

cheers yep, agreed, it is a strange looking cab. i was working in a tyre place for a while, tubeless are friendlier all round, i think. i was thinking, as i do, how about nissan patrol y61 axles? theyre truck axles i believe, massive things. dunno if theyd be wide enough, with the right offset rims they would be. im not a fan of fat m/ts though, ive xzls on my own car. the patrols have a difflock in the rear and maybe options to regear? not sure, said id throw it out there ![]() |

I'd say forget about swapping axles - it would be easier to get new wheels made. Axles don't give problems as long as the bits are there and you don't do anything stupid with front diff locks if fitted (and thats the same for any front diff locked vehicle). As was mentioned on the email group, the front CV's etc are often removed for strange reasons, just like bash plates go missing as they don't get put back on after services etc. Remember - these are not light 4x4's but small trucks, the chassis is a 6 tonne spec chassis , its not uncommon for people to load these things to 5.5 tonnes offroad irrespective of the plating. There is a version of this truck with a beam axle at the front, made by alfa romeo but I've never seen one in the UK. The independant setup at the front with torsion bar suspension works - mines been to capetown, around australia and 40k klicks around north africa so its not an issue. They are also in service with various european armies and police forces (the belgians have been selling their fleet off recently) |

I rang the guy... it was sold. it sold in the first few days apparently. heres the ad http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/commercials/3639849 hardly suprising at that price, prob it went for below that even. so that was a disappointment. the daily is pretty low key compared to some of the commercial 4x4's, which i like about it. from nosing around the net i know there are more in Ireland, the esb (electricity supply board) used to use them. they actually had some very exotic vehicles, after a set time period they sell them off, and the way the economy is here at the mo theyre going for peanuts. independant suspension on the front is a good thing in my opinion. the niva used to float over rough ground, whereas the cruiser and my fourtrak take a bit of getting used to, theres certainly no float about them. |
