Hi, I've just got myself an 04 daily, and currently in Afghan. When i return in a month, I'm going to fit a reversing camera, and I wanting to mount it similar to the way seen here ![]() Now, I know I could tap into the positive wire either going to the stereo or to the cigarette lighter, but how hard would it be to install a full new circuit just for the camera and monitor? I've searched both on here and google, but can't seem to find the a guide showing how to do it, but doing it so that it only has power when the ignition is on? I apologise if this has been asked and answered already. cheers |

Hi Brian Why don't you just take a connection from the reverse wire at the back, so when you select reverse the camera comes on. Much easer than running a feed all the way front to back ! Radiotwo |

That is the 2nd option. But i was thinking about using the monitor as more of a rear view constantly. If i was to do that, where would I connect the monitor to, so that it also comes on under reversing? Or should the monitor automatically turn on when i select reverse aswell? For the monitor, I would take a switched feed from the back of the radio. If it just a monitor then it will need a supply, but if it is a radio,sat-nav etc, then it might come on when using the reverse, but only on top notch system's Radiotwo |

It's just monitor for the camera. Think I'll just stick to doing it that way. However, I'm also wanting to add a 2nd 12v outlet, to power my satnav, but I'm wanting the outlet hidden behind the dash, so the cabling is all nice and neat. Is that just a case of adding in a new 12v socket onto the existing 12v socket? If so, would it be -------|---positive wire----socket--------|-negative wire ____|_________________________| ____|---- new socket ------------------| or should i run it in line ----------socket-------socket--------- would that work? I have a reversing camera and I picked the positive from the reversing lights. My 12v for usb and extra sockets i got from back of cigarette lighter no problems with loading. nice and hidden. |
