You could inquire about spring assisters http://www.springassisters.co.uk/

Or you can upgrade your leaf springs. I saw a van done and it lifted it about 3 inches.
Midland leaf springs Mind you it costs about £300

Spooky have you had your spring assisters fitted yet? If so, are they any good?

I was just looking at the custom Campers site and wondered if they would be worth me having them fitted to lift the back end.

The early 3rd Gen LWB daily's like mine are very low at the back as the rear leaf springs hang underneath the axle whereas I believe on the newer ones (about 2003) the springs sit on top of the axle and the van rear rides much higher.

Hi Kell.

My van is 53 reg (post 2004) and springs are also under the axle. You are right that there were changes made to raise the ride height of the newer vans but it must be something different unless my van was right on the cut off and missed out.

I am having the springs posted to me this week but unlikely to be fitting them for a few weeks as I will hopefully be the proud owner of a driveway in a couple of months so no point mucking about trying to fit them in the street, I live on a hill :(

I was only guessing at the "about 2003" bit it must have been later as you have the same rear spring configeration as mine but I have definitely seen newer vans than mine with the springs sat on top of the rear axle as opposed to hanging underneath.

I will be driving down the M6 from Scotland to Somerset next Thursday so I'm tempted to see if I can collect a set as I pass Junction 17.

Hello..

I was just wondering if you installed those assisters on your camper.
how did it go? is it any good ?

Am thinking of buying an Air Ride ( Air suspension kit)
Do you know or can you reccomend one to fit my 35S12 2006 ( single rear leaf above axle )

Thanks
John

Hi All,

Just a quick reply to let all Iveco owners know. I have now completly redesigned the spring assister kit for the Iveco. This kit now fits all, if your axle sits below the leaf spring or on top. The twin wheel version is a different kit again but didnt need redesigning. Please have a look on my website. If you have any questions, please ask.

Thanks
Simon

Spooky. Do you want to do a free exchange for the new kit?

Hello Simon...and all others..

In regarding to coil sprin assisters as mentioned in subject here.
I found some Apex Coils from a used car in a junkyard...
I removed them and i fitted them exactly where the bumpstops are...

The difference is that the bumpstops are not removed...i fitted them exatly inside the coils..
i took the base from the donor car and welded it on the round plate on my iveco..( where the bump stops where sitting)

Now the Van has a clearance of 4-5cm from the plate to the bumpstop..( bumpstop left in place for safety reasons)

I dont know how those coils will handle the weight of the camper when fully loaded yet, but for now it drives much better, feels better in handling, and at least i have rear suspension :) time will tell on that.

I would like to ask Simon if you can make coils strong enough as spooky showed in his pictures, but if you can make them to fit the bumpstop inside, and fit the exact base of the bumpstop placement..in this case we can use your spring on the same place, and just add the base on the lower side.

If you are able to make those spring i would be the first to buy them :)

Am attaching pictures on my mod for everyone to see the way i fitted mine.

Regards
John

Update on Helper Spring mod.

After adding the Apex ( yellow line ) springs as mentioned in previous post.
The Van drove very well while not fully loaded..

After adding some more load in it...i realise the springs were not hard enough to support it,
So the bumpstops and the springs were touching bottom..

I decided to get some other springs. i bought a pair of EIBACH springs rated for the weight i wanted.
I bought the black version and i installed them.

Camper fully loaded and i have 2 inches clearance from bumpstop to bottom.

No more noises...no problems on hubs or bad roads..
Mod took me a whole day ( around 8 hrs )

very satisfied with those Eibach springs.

Rgds
John
