Hi Have anybody got a parts manual for a 2001 The rear axel is rocking on the coil spring (having a clunk) i have noticed a space between them so have ordered new u bolts to see if i can tighten up to close the gap but was also wondering if there is some sort of spacer that goes between as the gap is about 5-10mm. Thanks |

No parts manual I'm afraid, though an Iveco dealer or Vexi will look for you. Any chance of a photo? Do you mean leaf spring as I don't think any vans are fitted with coils unless they are an aftermarket assistance kit. Edited by Spooky_b329, Sep 12 2012, 07:01 AM.

thats sounds like the same problem that i have with my van. mines a 2004 and everytime i pull away, change up gears or ease off then put my foot down again there is a clunk from the rear of the van. Has got worse since i got stuck in a field and rocked the van back and forth to try and get out. |

If its just a clunk it can be a problem with the backlash, adjustment between propshaft and rear diff. It will clunk whenever drive is applied or taken off (on engine braking/over-run) and is basically slack in the drivetrain. If you think this is what you are getting you should look at it immediately as it will wear the diff out. I believe it can be adjusted with shims, possibly inside the diff? I only get it occasionally if I pushed the clutch in whilst crawling in traffic and the engine is labouring, but I test drove a van that did it every time you touched the accelerator. i was worried it might be something like that. i have been underneath and shook the propshaft and pulled it about and there is no movement what so ever. Think i need to get it looked at before it becomes costly |

You can do a basic check by ensuring the van is out of gear and then rotating the prop by hand. The degree it rotates will relate to the level of backlash in the diff. I can't remember how far mine moves (and can't check as currently its on levelling ramps on a sloping field!) but on the van I drove that suffered badly, the prop rotated something like 120 degrees. (1/3rd of a turn) If the van is in gear the gearbox will limit the rotation so ensure its out of gear (and chocked) If anyone can give some advice on the level of rotation that is acceptable it will be greatfully received! |
