The van-35s15 2004 150,000 ish miles well looked after.
The problem-when i try to put the side lights on it blows the fuse and then only half of them work, main beam and full beam OK,front side lights left one on right one off, markers one each side,no reverse lights, one rear side light(right one) both brake lights OK.Been all over the van today and fixed 3 broken wires and checked every wire, bulb, conection, joint but can't find nothing. Its like there is two wires touching at some point or is there some other controler for the lights???.
Olso been under the steering wheel and all is good there. Can anyone point me in the right direction??.

Thanks

Hi,

Position lights circuit is divided into two and are cross-connected, ie left front lamp with right rear lamp are connected.
You can also check the towing socket if your van is equipped with it, or the wires from the junction connector located on the left down of the radiator there is a weak point of the chassis cable.

Should i be looking around the lights that are not working???ie the front right/rear left??

Hi,

Yes you can start from there, then... like I said, on the bottom left of the radiator are the junction connectors between bonet harness and chassis harness. Find the connector that has several yellow wires (position lights) and disconnect it, so you will separate the chassis harness from the body harnes.
The chassis wiring is connected to the rear lamps and side lamps. The body harness is connected to headlights, roof lights, and dashboard lights. If you separate the wiring you will know, approximately, where to look for the short circuit, ie. short circuit on the body harness that means you will look to the headlight etc.., or s-c on the chassis harness you will check the tail lamp, or side lamps.
In the cabin you can check the light from the cigarette lighter or the radio connector... By the way, did you mounted the radio recently? Often the wire configuration from radio connector does not correspond with the radio. Also the wires from the sliding door lamp, can make short circuit somewhere between the dashboard via left windscreen pillar, via ceiling and the sliding door pillar. You can separate this wiring disconnecting the gray connector on the left pillar under the dash, near the wheel arch.
