Hi all - I got the van towed out of the main dealers and took off the ECU and sent it off to have it checked by an electronics firm. They confirmed it was fried so I found one on E bay from a breakers £75 plus the post, sent it to the electronics firm where they transfered my software into it and they sent it back to me. I fitted it yesterday and it started first turn so fingers crossed it will be ok. Im sure its my own fault for disconnecting the battery in the first place so be carefull when taking out the battery on these vans. Will take it for a longer run today as my confidence grows.

Congrats on getting it sorted and thanks for the update. Maybe you could recommend the firm you used to diagnose the ECU and recode the replacement in the 'Supplier Listing and Feedback' forum, I'm sure others will find it useful in the future
