So battery was run down. Now wont start just turns over. Been A1 up till now.

Checked fuel lines - no fuel spurting when turning over engine from the fuel filter feed, send or the return pipe....

any ideas?

It's a 35c13 '04 2.8

First thing to check is primary fuel pump (electric) its located in the near side chassis rail roughly in line with the door, turn ignition on pump should whir...if it doesnt give it at tap it may work, either way if its not making a noise when you first turn key it needs replacing. Paul

well it aint making a noise. The heavens have just opened so not had a chance to check with a voltmeter to see if it's getting current but really hope it just copped it. Another days work down the pan stranded at home.

Thanks for the pointer,

Tom
vexi want £120 odd for one!

Does that sound right - they always seem fair but that seems a lot for a fuel pump to me!

Yes thats about right, truck wont work without it! you can buy repro but personally I would nt risk it, although you might find good secondhand on the net..but again a breakdown/non start will cost you way more than you save......if the pumps duff and you have power to it my advice buy another and crack on ps be under the truck when someone turns ignition on as it only runs for maybe four or five seconds to build fuel pressure !! it does not run permantly with just ignition on (pre starter turning over).............Paul

Its normally the pump itself that sticks, you should get some change from £150 at Iveco and the fuel lines disconnect like push fit plumbing, just pull the collars back and they should pull off. If you can get it running by giving it a sharp tap with a hammer, it will normally stay running so you may get away with leaving it until the weekend.

Thanks people.

I got a new one on order. Should be here tomorrow so only 3 days work lost :'(

I found one new a bit too cheap so I just hope it holds out. Might replace with a genuine at a later date when I'm not so skint. I know too well 'buy cheap buy twice' but that's all good and well if you don't have rent overdue! Nothing changes!
