Hello i am looking at buying a newer tipper van, and after looking around have decided on an Iveco. I have been offered the choice between two by a friend of mine who is a vehicle trader. Both of the vans are pretty mutch identical, both 3rd generation. Both have 130.000 miles on the clock, full service history ect. The only 2 differnces are the years, one a 2003 and one a 2004. and the engines. the engine in the 2003 is the 2.8. and the engine in the 2004 is the 2.3. i have been told the 2.3 is 85hp and the 2.8 is 120hp is this correct? also which one is the better engine if there is any difference? the van will be used in my daily work as a tree surgeon so will be towing a chipper whilst loaded with chip/logs. Basically i am in two minds as to which one to go for and wonderd if anybody had any better idea? any help would greatly be appreciated

You need to know the exact model to find the bhp. The most common are 35c11 and 35c12 35 means the weight is 3.5t gvw and the other is bhp (just add a 0 to the end) The 35c11 is the 2.8 engine which has 110bhp and the 35c12 is the 2.3 engine with 120bhp. Both are good strong engines but i prefer the 2.8. These are quite heavy trucks and weigh more than a tranny so bear that in mind but they will tow 3t or 3.5t if you get a 35c13 or above. Dont fear the milage as they are good for it. |
