i have owned my 1997 Iveco 7.5 lorry 75E15 horsebox for 3 years but about 2 months ago i noticed the following problem. the horsebox only gets used about once a week. When i start it up at home the handbrake light shows and goes off when i release the handbrake, as it should do. When i arrive at my destination, the handbrake light does not show. The light then only shows again correctly when the lorry has been standing for a few days. This would seem to be point to a loose connection. My mechanic has looked at this but cannot seem to determine the problem. I do not have any manuals. Does anyone have a dashboard wiring diagram or any info relating to this problem. I have to have the MOT done by end December 2012 and am concerned it won;t be passed without the handbrake light showing. HOwever, when the TEST button is depressed the handbrake light shows. Can anyone help please.

Hi,

Appears to be faulty the handbrake switch which is actually a pressure a switch, or as you said a poor connection. Pressure switch is located under the plastic cover from the handbrake lever and has connected two wires, one brown with code 0000, which is the earth and the second is purple with code 6662, which is the signal for the lamp. This wire goes to the cluster in the green connector at pin 8.

would you happen to know if it will fail the MOT if the handbrake light does not show when handbrake is on. When pressing the ~Test button, the light does show and the handbrake is working correctly. thanks.
