Hi
Just brought an 2008 35C 15 3.0 ltr, plan on kitting it out for bike racing, got it from a dealer .
Having real problems to engage first and second, all others are nice and smooth but first is difficult , second almost impossible, could this be a simple linkage adjustment issue or is it something more serious.

Cheer,s for reply, mileage is 95,000, it's going back to dealer today for further investigation, only had it a week so they have agreed to sort it, the other bloody issue which keeps occurring is the EDC wearing light staying on steady, had it reset once ,then came on again and they replaced a relay and reset, now it's come back again, are these sort of issues a common occurrence or am I just being unlucky.

I would say unlucky, I have the same model as you and same year with 70k on the clock and the gears are pin perfect and never had faults with edc lights etc.

When I looked for one I looked at a van that's still for sale on ebay and he said it had done 60k miles, but it had been clocked. I would have said it had done 160k - 200k miles and the 1st/2nd gear was terrible on that too....

I done exactley the same looked at one down in Kent that had 42,000, pictures looked good on eBay but van had been through the mill and had definatley done a lot more milage, the one I brought looks mint and the dealer has done anything else that was needed on it so hopefully once these two issues are sorted it will be a good motor.

Most of the times there is play on the ball under the cover. But you can delay a change of gearstick by adjusting the cable. It's very easy. At the cable which operates sideways you see mounting to the stick, below you see the outsidecable mounting on the base. Between that there is a spring, under that spring is a black adjustment lock. If you put in gear 3 and slide up the lockup you can freely move the stick to left and right. Adjust slightly to the way you want and try again.
