hi

Yes as long as it is not a 'Living van' ! there is a difference.

You also have to find a class 4 station who can a accommodate the vehicle on there MOT equipment.

The Dvla have refused to change the body type to motor caravan saying its looks still like manufactures vehicle all but windows and door . Which has made me mad as I've changed all box panels made skirts and lockers etc . So do I still have to mot it as 7.5 hgv . Cheers dave

My understanding is that that would make it a living van, and should be tested as an HGV (in the same way as a horsebox with living accommodation) You should check this out with DVLA / VOSA so you are sure in your own mind of the correct class for your needs

Although there are slight differences in HGV & C4 mot, basically the standards are the same, there is no reason to avoid the HGV test if that is correct for the vehicle. In fact it is often easier to get an HGV test than trying to find a C4 station that can accommodate a 7.5 ton vehicle.

It looks Like the DVLA have tightened up this year on the registration category for converted motor homes, about time to, as it has caused many an argument. Whether they have improved or clarified the situation is another question !!!

Cheers

Aidan
