My passenger door has a creaking/snapping noise when its opened and closed. it's coming from the little pin that holds the the swing arm in place. I called iveco this morning and they said its sold as a complete assembly at £20+ Does anyone know if this is correct? All I need is the little pin/bolt, which I find hard to justify £20+ to obtain a complete assembly, just to get ths bolt. |

Well looks like I had no option, the old door tie rod mechanism, has been completely upgraded by Iveco and they don't supply the old type anymore. So the tie rod on the door side and the mounting plate on the chassis side, have to be all replaced if you want to stop that horrible creaking/snapping noise. Rather than just replace one side, I bought both sides, £68 in total. Hopefully the install wont be too difficult, as the door cards have to come off to do it. Installed the new tie rods this morning, 7am at 0 degrees makes you work faster lol Was quite simple and no special tools needed, took me a total of 40mins. So this is the old style catch, in this pics the pin was already done and I tried to replace it with another to see if it would work, but it didnt.......Door kept creaking and snapping. The main issue I think is the old pin has like teeth on it and there is also a very thin metal bushing in the swing arm that deteriorated in the passenger side, So first job is to take the door panel off Once off I removed the old pins first Then undo the 2 nuts holding the swing arm unit Carefully peel back the weather shield/sound deadning and slip the old swing arm out OLD VS NEW COMPARISON Next remove the old swing arm catch palate, only 3 allen key type bolts OLD VS NEW Now I just installed everything in reverse and used new bolts Edited by Sudesh, Dec 18 2012, 12:19 PM.

Have to say, the doors are so much smoother, the new improved parts are much stronger too. Best of all, everything is nice and quite and no more creaking/snapping. |

Hmm... all very interesting. And thanks for the great photo's. Very helpful My driver's door has just started creakin' n clickin'. I thought maybe I'd just lubricate it a bit but hadn't got round to it yet I better have a more detailed look.I wonder if the part numbers are the same for the 3rd Gen or whether things are a slightly different shape in the door shuts..? |

Not too sure on the 3rd gen, all I can say is, when I called the dealer and explained what was the problem, they knew right away that the swing arm on mine, was what they called the old type, and that this new improved one was the only setup they sell. They had none of the my type swing arms available and its not listed anymore to sell, they just have this new setup. Its a bit more than I wanted to pay but glad I changed both as the doors feel so much better and very smooth operation. |

Thanks very much. I'll check it out as soon as I can. I had a look at my arms and there's a proper wobble around that pin part which was worn on yours. Passenger door still like new on mine but maybe I'll change both in the end. I have to say, I'm a bit embarrassed at the noise it makes at the moment because usually the sound of the cab doors shutting is top notch It's much more high quality compared to the rest of the doors on the van

Yeah that noise is what botherd me too, more so when I had my 9 month old son with me and he falls asleep in his child seat, as every time the passenger door opened and it creaked/snapped and woke him up. Funny enough on my van, the passenger door was the one that was noisy and its barely used [well since I owned it] my drivers side was quite enough. But I just opted to do the 2 at the same time, Im sure the drivers side wasn't far away from sounding the same going by the old pin and bushing. |
