hi, I have installed a TK 103-B tracker which so far has been exellent. I have not yet configured it to disable or stop the engine as i am not sure of the best way to connect the N/C relay and also if it is realy advisable. (I could use the function for other purposes such as remote heating etc.) I do not want to risk damage to the fuel or electronics systems and want to keep it simple. Any ideas thanks.

Hi Piper7

I would be very loathe to even think of trying to stop the vehicle remotely as it could be very dangerous ! scenario :

You discover the van has been nicked, you get a notification you send the command directly back and for one reason or another
there is a delay and the van is just crossing a junction or alike and there is a truck coming the other way, and yes you have guessed it
the truck wipes out the van, so not only your van is written off but more so if the driver gets killed and you could get done for murder or at least manslaughter.

Even the police won't do it over here and they are following them !

Hi,

I have been looking at fitting a tracker and immobiliser to a 2012 Daily 4x4 and this is what I have found out so far:-

Firstly get a copy of the IVECO Bodybuilder instructions for your vehicle, it's a free download from IVECO (I will try to find the link).

The instructions tell you about 2 connectors in the cab intended for body builders to use for interfacing their equipment into the vehicle. There are two connections within these two connectors that I am interested in:-

1. Speed limiter, ground this pin to earth and it enables the speed limiter - 30kph!
2. Engine shut-down, +12v pulse on this pin to shut down the engine.

The vehicle tracker I'm looking to use has the option to control up to 5 devices so I am intending to wire it so I can activate the speed limiter then the engine shut-down. The tracker also has the ability to not action the command until the vehicle is traveling below 20kph, ideal for a safe engine shut-down. Hope this helps.

IVECO have just pushed the delivery date of my 2012 Daily 4x4 back by a month :-( so this is only theory at present and I guess it will be a 2013 Daily 4x4 now!

Here you go:-

You should be able to download the Body Builders instructions for your vehicle from here (official IVECO site).

thanks for the input. I agree with the problems with remote shutdown and safety. However the tracker will only shut down below 15kph and i can monitor speed and only shutdown when stopped. I realy wanted to add a second level of immobilisation when necessary.
The "stop engine" signal sounds promising. I will look again at the wiring diagrams. Thanks for the replies.
