We've just bought a front & rear parking sensor system for the motorhome, and reading the documentation it uses the 'reverse light' to activate the rear sensors, and the 'brake light' to activate the front sensors. Instead of tapping the actual brake/reversing lamps (which with a vehicle that apparently has current detection on its lights is not a good idea) we're hoping there is signal wires we can use instead. The reversing signal is easy enough to access through either the radio wiring or the top pocket wiring (or worst case the reversing camera system that we got with the motorhome), but is there an easy way to access the brake signal inside the cabin? |

Hi, You may have a couple of electrical connectors behind the glove boxes intended for "body builders" that have outputs for brakes, clutch etc etc. have a look at this link for the body builders manual for your vehicle (it's an official IVECO site), it will have the pin out and some information on power output etc:- https://www.thbiveco.com/c/portal/layout?p_l_id=PUB.1005.2&p_p_id=20&p_p_action=0&p_p_state=maximized&p_p_mode=view&p_p_col_id=&p_p_col_pos=0&p_p_col_count=0&_20_struts_action=%2Fdocument_library%2Fview&_20_folderId=24790 |

Thanks for the link marcustuck, easily found the body builder plugs after I realised the image showing their location was mirrored compared to my vehicle (sleep helps ). Just need to make it down to my closest dealer and order the connecting plug....On a side note I'm going to complain about the twit who installed our reversing camera. Apart from the shoddy wiring job I discovered after removing the glovebox (pieces of wire with several joins in them is just the beginning), he apparently took the 12v/reverse signals from a brown plug coming out of the bottom of the fuse panel instead of using the bodybuilder connector. Also explains why we've been smelling a bit of smoke lately, and the reverse signal wire heading to the LCD kept blowing its fuses (which resulted in me stupidly replacing it with a higher amp fuse and watching a SMD component on the (old) reversing LCD PCB light up and release its magic smoke. Luckily the screen still works, albeit without its auto on when in reverse functionality [disconnected the reverse signal wiring as soon as I realised anyway]). (To be fair to myself, I am doing an overhaul of the existing mirror LCD system with a dual mirror/indash solution and I was powering some portions of it off the reverse signal for a while, thought that was what was blowing the fuses, wasn't expecting that mess of wires to be the cause) I'll be redoing it all from scratch as soon as I can. I'm surprised it lasted this long without any problems. Edited by lameboyadvance, Apr 1 2013, 12:45 PM.
