Hi All New to this forum and hope I can get some help. I have just bought a 1987 Cargo but the taco and speedo are not working. The clock is working on it but nothing else I have heard that it may be the gearbox sensor? or the cable? I dont have a scooby doo if its any of the two is it a straight forward unbolt and put a new one on. If so can you tell me where this sensor is located.Hope you can help. |

The sensor is by the the output flange on the rear of the gearbox. Quick test for the cable is to remove the cable connection from the sensor then give the inner cable a tug if nothing comes apart disconnect the other end from the tachometer head gently grip one end in a drill and turn it watching the other end if it turns then the cable should be good and replace the sensor , please remember the cable ends are sealed and will have to be revealed before use |

Thanks for that Troglodyte, I think I followed it. I perviously had a look at the rear of the Taco head but could only see two cable plugs going in there are you saying that there should be a cable running to the taco head?

May not be a cable , sorry looked at your first message and you mentioned a cable so just thought that is what you had . Some times the electronic senders build up filings on them remove it and wipe it clean |
