I have an Iveco Massif, with the 3.0l HPI engine, and the 6 speed manual gearbox. Model year 2009. I have just purchased the vehicle with 2300 km (yes 2300 km) in "brand new condition". I took the vehicle into Iveco for a quick service and full lube change, and all filters etc. Prior to the service I had some difficulty getting into reverse gear. The same problem still exists with reverse, and now when the vehicle is "hot" I get a good amount slippage on the clutch; 3rd gear and up. I live in Qatar ... so no hills at all ... slippage occurs from low speed through 120 kph. Unfortunately I have no workshop manuals for the vehicle but have had a look and I cannot see anything obvious. For those of you who have knowledge on this vehicle (or Daily) is the hydraulically operated actuator mechanism for the clutch/pressure plate release adjustable? Is this known not to fully release? Any help would be good. The dealer is suggesting the clutch plate is worn out ... but how in 2300 km? I would like to check a few more options before ordering clutch and pressure plate and opening it all up. Edited by MassifLizard, Mar 31 2013, 07:02 AM.

I resolved the problem - checked the clutch hydraulics - had quite a bit of air. Also the fluid was practically black. After flushing it, all problems resolved. Still need to replace both the master and slave system seals etc., waiting for parts. Additionally, you need to do a reverse bleed on this vehicle to get all the air out the clutch system. Brakes, normal way works well. |

If its the same clutch setup as the Daily, the clutch system is meant to be sealed and never opened, if it goes wrong you get the whole thing pre-filled with oil and just attach it to the vehicle. |
