I am fitting a new timing belt to my 35C11, 4130.43 engine, mechanical pump, 154 tooth belt, I have the timing pins located in the pump & crank, small hole in crank pulley at 6 o clock but I can't get the small indent in the camshaft pulley to line up on the casting mark on the cover, it is either to the left or the right of it with the belt tensioned. I was wondering if anyone had experienced this before and if so which side of the mark do I set it to. |

Common problem they very often end up with the timing gear mark very slightly to the left of the mark on the housing |

Agree, it can be hard to get it bang-on. Either side, as long as you're sure it's only a midgies out and not a tooth out. |
