Exhaust Silencer Box & Tail Piece; Will any 3rd Generation parts fit correctly ?

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

I am looking at on-line auction sites for breaking parts for my Iveco Daily Seddon 29L9 SWB 2.8 non turbo x-reg 2000.

I need a replacement silencer box and tail piece for exhaust, the front piece with the catalytic convertor is fine. The local Iveco dealership gave me a exploded parts diagram with correct part numbers on it for exhaust parts for my van after I gave them my Reg. number. (500329489 / 504198984) The prices they gave me for new parts was too much, so I am trying to find second hand ones instead.

The bloke at the local breakers yard reckons all 3rd generation exhausts are exactly the same on SWB Daily. I measured with a tape measure a silencer box on a different Daily model to mine which was exactly the same size but had a different part number (500329483) on it to the one on the knackered silencer box currently on my van.(500329489)

I find it hard to believe that Iveco manufacturer would produce the same exhaust parts with different part numbers on them, but am I wrong to think this ?

The last thing I want is to risk taking the local breakers yard advice and order & pay for parts with different part numbers only to find when I receive them they don't fit my van.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Gary.
