I put a new engine in to my van as the bottom end went on my old one. All was fine for a couple of weeks, then I noticed that the temperature gauge was creeping up above 80, I had been keeping an eye on it and the temp would go up to 90 ish when the engine was under load and then back down to 80ish when cruising on the motorway. I figured it must be the thermostat not doing it job so I put a new one in. bingo..................well for a day anyway, so then I though I would try the water pump, put a new one in and it has made no difference at all. So now I am still getting fluctuating temperature and there is pressure in the top hose, I have checked the thermostat and it is opening fine when put in to a jug of hot water so where do I go from here? it has never actually overheated but I am worried it will if I get stuck in traffic. I have also drained the entire cooling system, taken the rad out and back flushed the rad and the engine to make sure there were no blockages. the vans performance has not been affected and there is no smoke..... Any ideas anyone? |

Hi, In the download section you will find the fuse box diagram. Check the fan fuse and relay . |

Is the fan starting? Myself and a couple of others have had this problem, turned out we were all worrying about nothing, the fan won't come on until the temp gauge pretty much nudges the red, it will then drop quite quickly. Mine only really comes on during heavy towing at slow speed i.e. over bumpy fields, pretty rare for it to come on whilst driving on road, if it does its just for 30 seconds or so when working hard, you can hear the roar of the fan when the engine has a fair few revs on. |

Hiluxman, could be worth looking at as it sucks a fair bit of power from the engine...might just be a stuck relay or faulty temp sender. Or someone has rewired it thinking it wasn't working, like I did for a few months! |

Never thought of it that way. I suppose it is worth looking at. The cinic in me says it could have been done to hide a hot running engine. Even though ive had it for 3years with no issue. Anyway, thanks, I will have a proper investigation at it. |
