We have owned this van from new, was a special order in silver with electric windows and mirrors and the high HP engine, hasn't really let us down at all and around 100k now, it's used in my dads furniture business and they sent it in for mot and was returned with the following faults.

Iveco Daily 35C15 LWB

Chassis No. - ZCFC35A1005520653

LIST OF DEFECTS

202. Lights/Reflectors/Electrical. Headlamp - defective - Offside Front
216. Lights/Reflectors/Electrical. End outline marker lamp - defective - Offside Rear
417. Chassis and External Body Panels. Bonnet - safety catch defective- Front
713. Steering track rod/end - worn excessively - Offside Front
804. Suspension. Suspension Joint - worn excessively - Offside Front, outer, lower
804. Suspension. Suspension Joint - worn excessively - Nearside Front, outer, lower
808. Suspension. Spring - Broken - Offside rear
815. Suspension. Wishbone - mounting/ bush/s defective - Nearside Front, Offside front, foremost, upper, inner, rearmost
901. Brakes. Brake System - fluid warning device illuminated

Just wondering if anyone has any idea on cost to repair? Or is it worth repairing?

If all it is after 100k use , you have had your money's worth. There still another 900k at least left in it. Sounds a lot , but nothing too bad , well worth oing I'd say. If you decide to get rid of it , let me know.

Chances are, if my dad gets a newer van, he will either sell the old one as is, or, fix it and sell it? Think it's a 2005 van too.

Last year I had to replace all four front suspension arms (bushes and ball joints had failed) and replace rear suspension bushes. It cost me about £600 in pattern parts and I did the front ones myself and had a small local mechanic do the rear ones as needed a pit to do it in. Labour was probably about £60 (cash price) off the top of my head. I had to do the track rod ends the year before, that cost me about £20 in parts and about £30 in labour (needed a hefty ball joint splitter).

As for the brake fluid warning light, I guess that might just mean that the brake fluid need topping up, or it could be an actual leak, you'd have to look around the van... but probably not a big fix. The bonnet catch might just be stuck and need freeing up, or a replacement cable. Again, not a big fix.

The cracked suspension spring might be more expensive. I had a cracked spring a number of years ago and ordered new ones from Midland Road Springs and had a local garage replace them. That garage in particular were rubbish and was a time before I knew better and they hit me with a £2K bill for the work. I would expect it to be a quarter of that for a local mechanic who knows what they are doing.

So it depends on if he is going to do it himself, get a local mechanic to do it, or take it to a main dealer. The £600 in pattern parts for the front arms would probably be about £1200 in genuine Iveco parts and probably £300 in labour at the dealer (my guess). So if you took the van in, as is, to the dealer and said 'fix this list of problems' I'm guessing would cost you something like £2-4K.

I have no idea what's its worth, plus we would need to get a replacement van first, or decide if the old one is to be repaired or sold as is, I think replacement is the way the go as we have owned this one since new, so a change to the new shape would be nice for the store.

Your welcome to send me a PM with an offer?

It wouldn't be going to a main dealer for repair, if it is repaired, it will be at a local mechanic I know and well source the parts ourselves.

Thanks for the informative info! Very helpful.

Well it certainly hasn't been very well maintained!. Sounds like the only time it gets looked at is for the annual MOT test!.
If that was a HGV it would have to have six weekly safety inspections.
If VOSA read this lot, they'll never abolish MOT tests lol

Maintenance , prevention is better than cure !
My truck gets daily/weekly checks , and full service every 6 weeks, that's why it's done 1,097,000. Ok , so I had to change a front wheel bearing last week , and a track-rod end the week before , and a prop UJ a few days ago , and .............. , no that's it I think.

Quite possibly, it's not my van so don't have any idea about that, it obviously had the regular oil services, filters and so forth. I do know though, that in the 8 years they have owned it, it's never had any issues that Im aware off, this is the first time it's required anything that they deam as major.

My vote is fix it.

At only 100k you're leaving a lot on the table for the next owner.
