35s12 problem; intermittent cutting out dodgy primer pump?

Hi, my 2003 35s12 packed up yesterday after cutting out several times on a short journey. I suspected the low pressure fuel pump because I've had one go before. So today I spent £180 on a new pump and fitted it. The van seems better but still judders & stumbles. I wonder if I have introduced air into the system and if so how do I bleed it. It seems worse under load at low revs so I'm not 100% convinced that the pump was the problem. Any advice would be v welcome. Cheers guys in advance.

Hi,

These engines are automatically bleeds. If is necessary switch the ignition a few times.
Start the engine, then listen the priming pump, under the van, it must run smoothly.
I am confident that you do the basic checks, eg: fuel filters, possible leaks, air bubbles in pipes, etc.. By the way, before the priming pump there is a filter cartridge, usually is made from white plastic, replace it then check again the pump couplings.

Thanks for that, I will check the filter and pipework. Tom

Well I changed the filter, it looked dark and clogged, the van seems much better now. Still an occasional stumble & jerk though, don't know how long the fuel system takes to bleed all the air?
Anyhow thanks for the advice.
