Hi all, We have recently completed our journey from London to Cape Town in our Iveco Daily 4x4 1996 (www.viewsfromtheroad.co.uk). Our truck has just come off the ship and failed its MOT in Southampton on one thing. It needs new torsion bar bushes. We are able to source the bushes but can't source both torsion bars. The garage has so far has spent some time trying to get the nuts off without success. If they cut the nuts off can they then remove the torsion bar? How easy is it to get the bars out without damaging them? If they have to cut the bars to get them out, do you know where we might be able to source a couple of second had ones? The mechanics at the moment say "we have no choice but to completely strip the suspension to gain access to torsion bars. We would drop the front axle down to get a clear sight at the bar." This would be 16 hours work - v expensive! It seems quite dramatic at this stage. What do you think? Thanks in advance for any advice you are able to give us. Gerry and Abi |
