Hey guys,

I have a question about an oil leak in my van. its always been a little drip every now and then that i thought was coming from the oil return line from the turbo. The last couple of days its got pretty bad (a drip every second) so i thought id have a look and fix it.

I high pressure cleaned everything so i could find the leak. its appears to not leak at all with a cold engine, even while its running, but once its warmed up its not far off a fountain LOL. The trouble is i cant really see where its coming from. it kinda looks like its coming from the engine mount attachment to the block, surely they wouldnt be thru holes?

Pretty much every iveco van i have seen leaks oil round this spot, so i was wondering is it somthing you guys have come across before? Is it the sump?

Hi,

It is possible to be damaged the seal between the lower crankcase and cylinder block.

i didnt realise the block and lower crankcase were in two parts. I think that is exactly where it it leaking.

Its looks to be a very big job. is it possible to repair without removing the crank or engine?

Hi,

No, you can not!
There is a rubber seal, which in time becomes brittle and breaks.
The lower crankcase it is half of the crankshaft bearing.
