Folks, I have a Daily 35s12 2.3HPI 2004 and the Rev Counter does not work. Had van into Iveco Dealer for a full service & Cam Belt change plus Gearbox & Rear Axle oil changes just so I can get it to a good status since previous history a bit patchy. They did me a favour and spent some time looking at why Rev Counter did not work and even swapped in an old Dash Panel but didn't prove that it was the panel 100% but Tech advised that you only get one chance to set all the info such as mileage if you install a new Dash and that you cannot re-programme a 2nd hand unit, seemed strange to me but I can see some logic if you are trying to prevent mileage fraud. While doing so realised that the upper Right Hand set of Information Lights have been permanently covered over (Didn't get a handbook with Van) but can now see from downloads that it is item 5 and has some rather useful indicators within it. Hence I want to know if there are any issues in changing a Dash with a 2nd hand one and if it is possible to alter it so that it will show mileage and reflect axle ratio etc correctly or will it be a case of having a full set of working dials but wrong speedo info, which I presume could then affect readout on actual speed travelling at. Sorry but can you tell me where the temp gauge should sit when warm and how long it should take to get to the normal point, mine seems slow to warm up but heater system does get warm or is this just another symptom of a Dash fault, is there a good place to put a thermocouple to check correct water temp? BTW, while I did have gearbox oil changed it didn't really improve the 1st to 2nd gear change when cold so is there anything else to do? |

HI, can't help with your dash issue, I'm relatively new to the Iveco. My temp gauge (2005 35s12 2.3hpi) takes about 5 mins of constant driving from cold to get the needle to nearly halfway on the dial. It stays thereabouts from then on, unless I crank the heating up full blast and then it comes down ever so slightly. 1st to 2nd is a common issue when cold, not always a fault, with the Dailys I believe. Some describe the 1st 2nd gearchange as 'agricultural' lol Mine was like that even when warm so put the Iveco recommended Tutela gear oil in, and it HAS made a big difference, but I still have the 1st to 2nd hiccup when cold to begin with. All I do is change when the rev needle is touching the upper limit of the green sector to make a smoother change until warmed up. I have notice that when cold, if the van has been sat on a backwards slope (traffic lights for example) the change up to 2nd is harder, but easier if the van has been facing downwards. I'm toying with the idea of putting the van over onto a left hand slope and overfilling the gearbox a bit to see if that helps, but I suppose some will say not to do it. We'll see. |
