Hi, The ignition barrel on my recently purchased 2003 35S11 2.8 is either worn or has been broken. The van can be turned over with any key-shaped object, but wont start without the key transponder in place. Also after starting the engine with the key (which can just fall out at any time!), the key has to be manually turned back one notch for the electrics, such as headlights and wipers, to work. Sometimes if the key is not turned back in this way, the starter motor continues to spin, causing a lot of noise as the engine and motor run together. It stops when the key is turned back a notch. The first time this happened the starter motor started smoking! Anyway I would like to either fix/replace the barrel and continue to use my keys, or replace the barrel and housing. There are various companies on ebay selling a new ignition barrel and key set, but it doesn't have the immobiliser. Would this be an easy and cheap fix? Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks |
