Not sure whats going on here but didn't use the truck for about 5-6 days, started it this morning to let it warm up(it was actually 5 degrees this morning in oz :D
while loading tools onto the tray I noticed that something was dripping onto the ground under the truck, smelt like diesel and definitely felt like diesel after crawling under the truck, it was tripping off the crossmember.

Now looking in the engine bay the only area I could see a wet shiny surface was sorta near the back of the high pressure pump. Went to iveco and looked at the parts diagram and it appears there is a governor/regulator attached to the pump where it I think it was leaking from.
I cleaned everything up with a rag and run it several times even taken it for a drive and stopped to inspect and doesn't appear to be leaking anymore.

Anyone had anything similar as im lost atm.
Truck drives fine, has power and dashboard isn't lighting up like a xmas tree.

Replaced my low pressure fuel pump few months back along with pre filter.

Not sure as not had any fuel circuit probs...... yet lol

The pump you replaced, is that the same pump that the leak was near or if not is the pump you replaced higher than the area you found fuel?

Just wondering if some residual fuel spilled out during changeover and has worked it's way down or into the area you found it?

highflow pump is on the side of the engine block, low pressure pump that I replaced is inside the chassis rail next to fuel tank(lower)

I did replace the fuel filter in the engine bay but cant really see anything around it.

Happened again this morning but appears to go away after 3-4mins.

Is there somekind of valve system/bleeder on the pump itself.
Gonna order a new gasket for the reg and clean it out

Ended up with a new pump and a heavy paperweight.

The iveco technician noted that the cause of the leak on engine block is common with worn crankshaft which in return can make starting harder at times as crank sensor cant detect the correct position.

Something like this full rebuilt or whats generally involved.

If the crank has chewed through the block, we got the repair bits FOC from Iveco as its a design fault. They supplied a new crankshaft, bearings and bottom end kit.
The bearings are modified to incorporate thrust washers at both ends the crank.

iveco tech told me that the 2.8 daily 8140.43s/n which are the 125/150hp have thrusts washers at both ends but not exactly sure what they are as part of bottom end rebuild quote they gave me.
What model was your vehicle and was this early on in the vehicles life?

Local price for bottom end rebuild including

1x T/BELT TENSIONER
1x TIMING BELT
1x BEARING CAMSHAFT
1x CYLINDER LINER
4x PISTON ASSY
4x BIG-END BUSH
4x CON ROD BEARING STD
1x MAIN BEARING SET
1x KIT-OVERHAL.GASKET

All up that's about AUD$4k, £2.2k
