Hello all. I have a 5.5t twin rear wheel truck with a recovery body that I use for collecting and transporting cars for banger racing. A lot of the banger meets are wet and muddy and my truck normally ends up getting dragged off the field by a tractor, I hate this because they aren't careful and I don't want my pride and joy damaged. At the moment I have 215 75 16's on the front and 225 75 16's on the back, are there any suitable tyres I could put on it that would offer better grip that would get me out of the mud? Are there any 4x4 tyres that are suitable for twin rear wheel setup? Ideally I'd like smaller tyres on the back as its a bit high at the moment, I'll be building a new, lower bed over winter also. Cheers Dale |

I can't help you directly as I have single rear wheels on my van. But i went for some M+S rated tires and they certainly helped. However the biggest problem I have is normally one wheel losing traction and spinning. A diff lock would certainly be helpful. I know that they did diff locks for some of the twin-wheel variants. Might be worth seeing if you can retro-fit a locking diff as that would probably help you even more. -Matt |

I've got Toyo H09's on mine, and tow a heavy trailer on wet grass etc, rarely have problems. However, the ones I have will not be rated for your van. You need to find the load rating (mine is 112 but yours will be higher) which is moulded into the tyres, often it will be in the form of 112/110, the lower rating is used for twin wheel set ups. |

+1 for the Toyo H09, fitted them to my 45C14 camper conversion. I activly search out steep, wet, grassy, muddy campsites ;-) |
