Wing mirrors; Loose wing mirrors

2005 2.4 Iveco Daily Wing Mirrors.
Both wing mirrors wobble. From the plastic part with the mirror glass in there are two metal pipes that go into cheap metal clamps which have a bolt with nut through them. The clamps are on the cheap metal short arm that is spring loaded and attached to the door. The whole unit can be moved to the front and rear of its in use position. On the top and bottom clamps are two round pins ( the top and bottom of a/two pins) can be seen. They could be sprung balls / indent or two pins that go into each tube or one pin that goes through both tubes. These can be seen under the rubber cover that goes from the side of the door to the plastic where the glass is.
The glass can be moved and two screw heads can be seen at the top and two at the bottom the bottom two cannot be accessed with the glass in place. There is a ball type hinge to which the mirror glass is attached. There is a hole in the bottom of the plastic below the small mirror.

The cheap metal clamps look like they could break if prised apart.

Has anyone taken a wing mirror apart?

I think if you tilt the glass fully you can see a metal retaining wire, prise this off and the glass comes out. Let me know if you fix the wobbling as my nearside one does it!

35C12 2005 MWB DRW 3rd gen’ crew cab tipper F1AE04 85.3 kw 2.3 cc 16v.
Inside door removed one screw and one plastic piece (triangle shape) behind which are two 5mm allen screws, remove the two allen screws.
Outside remove the round plastic plug behind which is a 5 mm allen screw, remove the allen screw and the mirror/bracket comes off.

Move the mirror length wise to see the two wires - can move them with a finger, I used pliers - there isn't much room.
Move the gaiter off it's ends so it is free to move back and forth.
With the mirror out inside are four screws when undone there are two plastic halves. You may see wear on the plastic and metal.
Undo the clamps bolt - prise apart the clamps a little bit, I used a small chisel and wedge - tap in two oval nails - tighten clamps bolt.
Use plastic between the metal and plastic cover and refit the screws. I used strips of plastic held in place with masking tape.
WD40 the moving part where the mirror fits.

Excellent post, thanks for your contribution :)

I had previously used zip ties (straps fixing) to secure the plastic mirror housing against the metal frame (where you have found the wear) but will have to take another look at the clamps...I did not remove my mirror from the vehicle when trying to stop them wobbling about :)

It looks like there is a sprung plate into which a button fits when the mirror bracket is in its in use position.
There seemed to be wear on the button on mine but the whole thing is not very well designed/made so it could be just another badly made part. If the button or hole are worn then the mirror bracket can move fore and aft, wobble.

I did the drivers side today with the plastic and two oval nails. Both the side mirrors have some fore and aft movement so I expect it's the button/hole that are worn or were not well suited when new.

The two small mirrors at the bottom have not been well fitted as I can't see much in them, they seem to show the ground just behind the cab doors, so I'll need to adjust them some how sometime.

What are these small mirrors for? They aren't sufficient to back up with.
The Transit van also has the larger mirror and the smaller mirror.

Neither the Iveco or Transit mirrors can be adjusted to show the back wheels and see where one is backing to in the same moment. It's one or the other or I need to stretch across or and bend up or down.

The small mirrors should really be showing your blind spots, i.e. the left lane on a dual carriageway directly alongside you where the main mirror can't see. The sides of your van/rear wheels are a bonus to avoid bollards etc.

However, the Iveco wide angle mirrors are useless, like you say, they just show the floor! They are not adjustable, the glass just clips in. I fitted extra frog eye mirrors, but when you inevitable find a big branch on a narrow road, they are the first to smash.

I have a Mk.7 Transit and its wide angle mirrors are really effective. In the past I have considered fitting the 2006 > Iveco mirrors to my Daily but they are an expensive part.
