Hi, alternator knackered so have to replace it. I'm use to alternators that are on a slide rail and pull back and tighten nut to tension belt but nothing like this on Iveco. There is a small wheel which looks to take up slack but can't see how as just bolts straight on? Anyway managed to remove alternator by removing this silly wheel.

Now how do you refit alternator so belt is easy to get on and how do you tighten belt?????

Yes they are tricky suckers, if you put spanner on nut of tensioner wheel turn it , this cranks tension spring back allowing to get belt on, nut is captive so doesnt undo, for the life of me sorry cant rember clock or anticlockwise, eitherway I used one spanner on nut then used another spanner jammed into the end of that to give much more length for easier leverage.
basically you need three hands its one of those jobs, a knuckle skinner for sure.

There's some images of the alternator in attachments.
It may be necessary to do more than one reply for them all to be available.
