Hi all,

When I replaced the clutch I noticed these two holes on the bellhousing.

One is blanked off, but the other isnt. Ive had the truck about 9 months and the thread is really clean so it looks like something was removd by the previous owner. Im guessing its some sort of sensor but the truck runs ok without whatever it is, just curious!!

Photo is on passenger side of truck, looking forward towards clutch slave

Apologies for pic, my tablet camera is cr@p!!

The gearbox is common between a lot of brands, some cars use those holes for hall affect sensors for crankshaft timing. Its the same on my 55S17W with ZF6S400 gearbox , one of the blanking plugs has fallen off, one is still inplace - just like on yours - does no harm if its not there but better blanked to stop wasps etc building a nest in there.

Thanks very much for all your help

I wondered if it was a plug because I cant find a cable that would reach there for a sensor. Thought it best to check though.

Not sure what box it is, but its on a 35s12 2.3, 2003 model

Thanks again all

James
