Servicing the old (1991) truck. Bought all the bits, as you do, and set about the job in hand. Think King Kong must have put the old oil filter on as I destroyed it getting it of, comes to put new filter on and the body of it is too bloody big. Went back to supplier with the number of the one I took of, did a cross reference and it came back as the one they supplied me with. fortunately the guy had some intelligence and noticed that the one I took of was by Mahle, did some checking and found all the others were 17mm bigger on the body. Brilliant, can you get me one I said, yes we can, but not til tomorrow. Went to pick it up a bit later than advised and the damn thing hasn't turned up, bollocks. Not happy as I need to pick a car up tomorrow and it might still not be here by then.

I dread the 1st oil change I come to do on any new vehicle as either the filter or the sump plug, (or both!) are usually on far too tight. With my old bus the filter came off beautifully but I began to think that they must have welded the sump plug back in! I broke my spanner at one point and had to borrow a big long one from a neighbour, which eventually did it.

Just done it's second oil change and no probs whatsoever.

LG.
