rear brake piston does not retract

Hi, I'm checking my rear brakes (40.10W so large drum brakes.)
On one side the piston pushes the shoes out but does not fully retract, leaving a gap at the top between the shoe and the fixed plate. If I open the bleed nipple it immediately springs back. Surely the normal spring pressure should force fluid back up the pipe in normal operation.

Any ideas? (all the springs are newish and in place and bits and pieces all seem to more as they should apart from this.)

Problem found. It was the middle flexible brake hose (the one under the cab) was blocked. I've ordered a new braided one. I hope the fittings are correct.

Interesting that the first symptom that I noticed was the hand brake going loose. Which I just tightened and carried on, until it went loose again.

Once I'm back on the road I'll measure up remaining hoses and get them replaced too.

I've just ordered a middle one. Stainless braided. If that seems to fit and I'm comfortable with the supplier, then I'll order the rest. I think I'll replace some copper brake lines too as the flare looked fragile and messy.
