Long story short. 1998 Iveco 49 10 Iris ex welfare bus. Has numerous safety switches for engine cut of, one of them is attached to the step that comes out (not had motor since I've owned it) replacing a rotten step that the switch was attached to and now it wont start, also the step out light is illuminated (never has been before) I'm pressuming rightly or wrongly that it's cutting the power of to the fuel pump, where is the fuel pump so I can check? Hopefully there is a picture link attached to this.

Hi,

Your model does not have electric pump. Try to connect back the switch.
Possible as protection for start to be a stop solenoid on the fuel pump, or on the fuel supply line.

The switch literally crumbled to dust, do you happen to have a picture that shows the location of the solonoid? Can't seem to see it on my pump. didn't think it had an electric pump but now I know for certain.

Now fixed and running sweetly again, managed to get a live to the solenoid on the fuel pump.

I know you have this sorted now, but i am not sure if you ran an axtra wire to the solenoid, which is probably a work around!

I had a similiar issue when i ripped out all the old bus electrics.
I found a pink wire behind the fuse box under the dash which was tapped into to activate the stop solenoid. It was quite a distinctive pink colour but i can't remember the wire number!
I bridged the 2 pink wires together and away she went.
I would imagine it should be the same as yours.....
